Think . . .Critics & Pundits Who Needs Them?

I have a blatant disregard for most pundits. That’s one of the many reasons you will see the graphic THINK in this blog. Movie pundits, art pundits? All I can say to them is, go make a body of work in movies and art. Let your peers give you the honest truth and then try again to convince people you know what the heck you are talking about. Five will get you ten that you still don’t know jack in the eyes and thoughts of most people. And, don’t get me started on those high-priced talking heads on network television and radio that vomit out propaganda and spin—all regulated by rich, powerful individuals and corporations. Their famous news anchors have continually perpetuated confirmed lies and actions that have had profound effects here and around the world. Lives taken, families destroyed, civil liberties stripped away and more. What happened to the responsibility of the journalist? I wish Mark Twain and a few more good men and women were around to offer their opinions on the state of journalism. We can debate whether those same powerful entities existed in Twain’s world. And yes, they did. But there were also many voices to tell and interpret events. Now there are just a few, getting fewer and fewer with each corporate buyout or merger.
It is up to the individual to research the truth from lies and half-truths, to make up one’s own mind. Americans have access to so much information by blood and right. Beware of the keepers of content. Corporate and political control of information and money on the internet is happening as we speak. The internet is free. The truth will keeps us free. But will it cost $36.99 a month to know the truth some day? And are the book publishers next? Or are we already there?
